A DIVER is believed to have been killed by a crocodile in the second fatal attack in the Northern Territory in days.

police said the body of a man, 56, was recovered from a beach near Cape Don yesterday. The man was reported missing by a diving companion after he failed to surface.
The other diver also reported seeing a large crocodile in the vicinity, and marked the location. well two nil to the crocs over here the bears killed a few during summer now its time for the tourists to decend on australia lets hope the heed the warning's
Today Emma was home and took saoirse to mother and toddler play. I was home without her it felt strange like something was missing. I got a call about 10.45 emma's work to see if she wanted a shift at 2. 30 p.m .So I walked over to the community hall and was looking I could nt see her but she saw me and headed out as Emma was comming out she asked a woman if that was me? I was puzzled then Emma explained that the woman who had never meet me had seen me and said to Emma that she thought she saw me. Confused me to she saw me walking and knew Emma had a Irish boyfriend, but had never meet me.She told Emma that she saw me and thought I was emma's boyfriend as I looked Irish and was pushing a pram.So apparently I look Irish but I have known that so people look like the country they come from Germans are prime example as are some aussie's,poms you can usually tell them .Anyway once saoirse saw me she stopped playing and started crying next time ill stay away we came home and waited for Taylor and Lima and went over to the mall I know IM quick when I go but with Emma wow she can shop for Canada and win a gold medal at the Olympics,we got home about 4 and now emma's at a stamping club what will they think of next. saoirse went to bed at 7 30 she was tired I enjoy putting her to bed I just stare at her I cant believe shes mine but unfortunately she looks like me poor kid well chat later.
they say the waiting is the hardest part.
and I have to agree with them... I've been waiting three years now trying to get justice. I'm what they call a survivor and as anyone knows trying to get justice is a joke. I know its hard for a woman to get justice but try being a man and the difficulty doubles. I think it's because people see me and any other male as they are now. They forget we were kids. Anyway, about 2 and a half years ago I went to the medical board and was brushed aside. I am appealing it but as they say they have other jobs and can't be hurried as it takes time. I know it takes time but at least they can get on with their lives, where as I'm in limbo. I'm told by people to get on with your life but its easy to say things like that. I'm also waiting to see the outcome from a complaint I made against a detective from Mornington C.I.D. who, when I went to make my complaint, told me to think of the innocent people meaning the ------- family. That was a blinder. He also said do I want to put my family through it and kept saying he won't get approval to travel to Queensland to question the doctor. He kept at me for over 45 mins to sign a statement of no further action. I ended up doing it as long as I could also say at this time. It was funny cause I was at Werribee s.o.c.h.a and the officer there told me that it would open a can of worms and she made me feel good and then I get a call and am told to go to Mornington and speak to the copper there. I felt good going down as I thought at last we're getting somewhere and then I met that detective and well I've already told you how I was treated there.

Michael moores hometown flint mich;
after the football match I was playing with saoirse and this story came on about Willie Mcqueen who lost his legs in a accident I think a train ran over him was nt paying much attention at this point. Then I saw him putting on his football kit. American football he went to practice and was tackling and chasing using his hands to push himself along. He played a match where they got beat then it showed their home ground it was a shambles not much money goes into this town but he showed true spirit and it really made me feel good. We need people like that who don't let anything stop them doing what they want instead of whining its to hard . Maybe j lo should donate her ring ha that would be helping the less fortunate and why would she do that she need s more fur and luxuries
It was a quitter day today as it was cold so didn't go anywhere much was over at the mall this morning getting rolls for dinner .Saoirse and I stopped off at the flamigo's she seems to like birds a lot when we go to the shop in the mornings to get a paper she always saying whats that in baby talk you can sort of understand it.And points to the birds she will follow then twisting her head to see them .Came home after mall and could tell she was tired its funny how you start to pick their signals up like give me my dummy,or bottle or IM scared or I want picked up that's her favorite one .Today though she started standing on her own she walks around the bunter and when IM sitting on floor she holds my feet to stand but today she let go a couple times and one time I gave her a bottle while she was standing and she did NT relish she was standing un aided then she remembered sat down .But still every day she's getting that bit more independent I suppose they all grow up but you have to see how fast to really believe it I ve been here nearly three months and before that she was only 7 weeks when I left soon she'll be walking and talking then that's it she learns and to think ill be a influence on her.hope its not about grammar or spelling.liam and Taylor got home Taylor had a half hour cleaning her room liam had to do outside. Taylor does nt like to clean that's for sure.had a argument with liam about leaving the stair gate open . I hate to do it as I think IM only doing it cause I favor saoirse and having a go at him but its only cause I'm trying to install a bit of common sense into them as I think everyone needs that and you d be surprised how many don't use it these days well you ve probably all ready noticed it yourself.Anyway with a child I think you need to think safety all time as they are quick as hell once they get moving and get into everything and have no fear about anything.we'll get there together.
Theres a story ive been following
but its been postponed due to next weeks rosh hashanah observances. But a lawyer for a military intelligence officer who was expected to appear said the defence department,s rufusal to allow such testimony not the jewish hoilday was the reason for the delay it sounds better than the truth,Which is that the dod is not co-operative.it appears lt-col anthony shaffer, who has said the unit used data-mining to link ringleader Mohamed atta and three others to al-qaida more than a year before the sept 11 2001 terrorist attacks.it seem that they think that the u.s public might be upset to know that a covert army mission on home soil. the pentagon has acknowledged that employees recall seeing an intelligence chart identifying atta as a terrorist before the attacks. But they said none have been able to find a copy of it you would think national security would have been more important than revelling their covert operations they might have been blasted but today the towers could still be standing.
U.S town appologizes for 1812 attack
Nearly 200 years after americian soilders looted and burned the tiny lake Erie settlement of dover mills during the war of 1812, norfolk county has received an apology from its neighbours to the south.
the tounge in cheek apology was delivered earlier this month at a luncheon held in conjunction with a heritage festival with an 1812 theme in erie,pa.the school children even made cards saying sorry for burning your town there was also a plaque of eternal friendship and a wooden bowl. there was also six erie coffee mugs to make up for the china and silver looted in the 1814 raid.
that give me hope as there has been debate in Australia whether to say sorry even if it is like this surly it's the symbolism behind it.

well the first game against CHELSEA ended up 0-0 another draw Liverpool need firepower and I believe cisse can give it just keep playing .With him unsure about his LIVERPOOL future he'll panic when he plays as he will try and impress instead of just playing his own game which we saw glimpses of today or tonight depends where you watched it. I wont harp on about the 2 times we should have had a penalty as we cant rely on things like that to keep us going. Lets see some goals on Sunday in the premier league

it looks like the hype behind the decommisioning was just that,i still wonder where do you take old semtex to decommision it and what did they do to decommision the guns the word it self decommision to put out of use but have they? What did they do to the weapons the witness are nt5 allowed to say so of course unionist's are sceptical who would nt.where the barrels of the guns bent so could nt ever be used again or where the firing pins taken out see these are the questions that need answered not just they are decommisioned that covers a wide range where do you take them maybe a wreckers yard to be squashed hopefully but will we ever find out i hope we do then unionists have no excuses anymore,as ive said get rid of adams and you will see the protestant people more willing to talk, most realize that there will be a united ireland one day and its comming quicker than most want. Every year marchs are re routed, concesssions made.S/f have the upper hand they got p.r advice from somewhere and made the most of it.
j-lo shows her class when southern americia is suffering what does jenny from the block do? She buys herself a 4 million dollar ring .Now i know its her money and she or anyone can do what they like with there money but are you telling me that a ring could or should be worth that much, i think the most that should be spent on a ring is ten grand any more and you have more money than sence, we live in a material world these days when what you get is more important than what you do,the more you want the more you need i ve said it before and people like j.lo and the hilton sisters with their little dogs. Now there a point she has a little dog now everyone seems to have on when did a pet become a fashion item you see them getting more than starving kids. That cant be right
well the days over and Emma s home so my time is up i had a great day the sun was out again so soirse and i went to the park twice and over to see the flamigo's i took her to the pet shop she actually enjoyed the pups today and rabbits she went go go lol .See im turning into a baby myself i' ll have to go to mother and toddler group next to have a conversation with a adult but then again . we spent the afternoon out the front saoirse played with the ball and ate the grass she seemed to like that we also spotted birds then her sister got home followed by liam . they went and did 30 mins in there rooms then liam went out taylor played a game on the comp they have a play station but play on the comp go figure.chops and chips for tea saoirse ate it all then had a pudding liam went out again and taylor went to dance lessons so a quite night i hope .
Ex afghan intelligence officers subjects of war crimes trial
in the Hague they are putting on trial two former aghan intelligence officers.accused of abusing detainees under the regime of soviet backed president najibullah .Now why is that different to what the u.s is doing to prisoners today and for last couple years maybe they should have signed a piece of paper that says they are immune from prosuicstion like bush and Blair. How can it be a war crime for everyone else but not British and American soilders either its a fair world or just as long as you are powerfull .I don't excuse what these men did they should be on trial what irks me is the two different standards if you put these men on trial should nt the British and American intelligence men be there as well as there tactics are just as bad if not worse.

port augusta to whyalla
i was standing on the outskirts of Port augusta i was heading to w.a again. it was about 11 or 12 pm hard to know as you lose track of time. There was 'nt many cars on the road, i saw a car comming towards me and it was all over the place. He stopped and asked me where i was going i told him W.A he said he was going to whyalla and could drop me off a bit down the road i said ok . As we where driving he said he was going to a party and invited me i so ok no worries it was about three hours out of my way but a party maybe get lucky with a girl.So we drove and when we got to the town it was quite we got to the house where the party was supposed to be and there was only one other male there he must have been about 22 he said" it fizzed out".I stayed had one drink then said im going try my luck they offered me the couch but i declined . I walked to a road at the edge of the town and there was nothing i was kicking my self i was thinking ill never get a lift from here, then i heard a train in the distance its engine going i thought i could jump it so i climbed down to the tracks and was waiting it never came i came back up to the road i could see the lights of a big plant i think they made iron ore or something. i could still hear the train and waited hoping but it never came must have been shuntting.i was freezing by now but still waited on the road if a car was going to pass i was nt going to miss it still cursing thinking i ll have to back track.then about dawn a truck came along and stopped he gave me a lift, he said he could drop me off on main road as he was going up that far then he was going stright up i needed to go west . we talked about a lot of things he said he goes up to cobber pedy on weekends and told me about the opel mines i thought i should try that one day .I never did try the mines but did visit cobberpedy but thats a different story.

Cows dine out on orange glutBen Packham and Gerard McManus27sep05CATTLE are gorging themselves on top-quality oranges as heartbroken citrus growers dump thousands of tonnes of surplus fruit. Many Sunraysia orange growers are on the verge of walking off their properties because of a huge glut in supply.
About 36,000 tonnes of oranges -- or about a third of this year's crop -- will be fed to livestock or left to rot.
The glut has been blamed on a lack of export markets.
Citrus grower Shane Smyth said he was considering his future after making huge losses on his crop.
He said his fruit had cost $120 a bin to grow, but was returning only about $70 to $80 a bin. And he had to pay $30 a tonne to dump oranges he couldn't sell.
"It's an absolute disaster," he said. "We'd be better off with a drought. At least we'd get some drought relief."
Sunraysia Citrus Growers chairman Peter Crisp said orange farmers had been let down by successive federal governments and the world trade system. Mr Crisp said growers had been advised to tear up orchards of valencia oranges -- which are better for juicing -- a decade ago.
In their place, they grew navels, which are better for eating.
But promised Asian markets had not materialised, he said.
Mr Crisp said about 100 growers in the district were considering leaving their farms.
"This is the perfect crop," he said.
"After 10 years, they've done everything the Government has asked of them. And then to find the markets that were promised have not materialised . . . they're pretty upset."
Federal Agriculture Minister Peter McGauran sympathised with the farmers' plight.
"It is a very serious situation and for the growers -- quite disastrous," he said.
Mr McGauran said the citrus growers had done everything right by reshaping their industry to make it export-oriented.
But he said they had been frustrated at being blocked from the lucrative markets of China, Taiwan and Korea.
"The key is access to China," he said. "The Government is working hard . . . to try to find the reasons why China quarantine officials have blocked Australian oranges."
Mr McGauran said Australian consumers could help by buying Sunraysia oranges, but the only real saviour was a breakthrough in the trade impasse.
Cattle farmer Russell Dodds said his livestock were thriving on the citrus diet.
"There's a bit of acid in them. It's supposed to get rid of a few worms. They're good for them." This has been giong on for years are we really having a fair trade market in the world if the aussie gov has nt the balls to stand up for there farmers and the aussie people just want cheap fruit what will happen the farmers will give up then in years to come the cheap fruit from overseas will dissapear as they over farm there fields to the extent that they will no longer have good growing land that day will come its up to every country to support its own farmers and pay the little extra. companys like safeway who dictate the prices and demand extra quality from local farms while take anything from overseas as it is cheaper. As was the same with McDonalds who cut buying tassie spuds in half and took poorer quailty new zealand spuds.
Outcry to cull killer crocs27sep05THE latest fatal crocodile attack in the Northern Territory has sparked renewed calls for trophy hunting of the killer reptiles.
Englishman Russell Harris, 37, was snorkelling with a friend in a popular swimming spot off Groote Eylandt, near Arnhem Land, when he disappeared on Saturday afternoon.
His American wife was relaxing on remote Picnic Beach with the other man's partner, but the group became worried and alerted police when Mr Harris failed to return by late afternoon.
Mr Harris' body was found on Sunday at the mouth of Eight Mile Creek, about 1.5km north of where he was last seen.
"It's a shocking tragedy," police Acting Sen-Sgt Stephen Pfitzner said yesterday.
"There are a number of injuries on the deceased and also there was a crocodile sighted very close to where the deceased was."
Mr Harris, from Nottingham, had worked for five months as technical services superintendent at BHP Billiton's Gemco mine on the remote island.
Authorities were yesterday hunting the 4m crocodile so they could move it to another area.
The NT Government has long been lobbying the Federal Government to lift a 33-year ban on trophy hunting of crocodiles, as it grapples with an explosion in croc numbers.
Environment Minister Ian Campbell is due to make a decision in coming weeks, but has indicated opposition to it.
About 75,000 crocodiles live in Northern Territory waterways, of which 600 a year can be legally harvested for their skins.
Crocodile hunter Mick Pitman said it was time to allow crocodile hunting.
"They are eating people, eating dogs, cows and horses. We are sick of it up north," Mr Pitman said.

Had a weird dream last night .I was traveling somewhere don't know where I think in Canada, and I was hitching but could nt get a lift next thing I was talking to a train driver and he offered me a lift but I had to sit on the front of the train next thing saoirse is sitting beside me and IM holding her cause I did nt want her to fall off the train. We speed along through cites just like we where on a road it was like we were ploughing up the ground as we went. The strange thing I thought about this dream was saoirse was in it so my mind is telling me she will always be with me I cant or would nt leave her behind. second was that the dredging of the dirt was like we were nt supposed to leave where we were.
there are some things people should'nt say. its easy to say sorry after all ,but if the words are said then in anger does that mean that they are thinking them in peace, we tell people things and hope they respect what we have told them not turn them around and to use them to hurt the core of your being.if i bare my soul would you tear another shred out of it.
here is a picture of the Melbourne cricket ground where the a.f.l football final was held over the weekend I just showed it as I think it has to be among the best sporting grounds in the world. I ve been many times for the fotty and the cricket I saw the windies the poms the pakistan and the Indians play there some of the greatest batmen and bowlers I saw Chris cairns from new Zealand hit six's all over the ground no mean feat.i ve seen joel garner clive Richards, botham lillie Thomson, rod marsh a taswegian, boarder chappell and many great s its changed over the years bay 13 where the yobbo's got drunk is not the same loud noise is frowned upon .You try and hang a banner they stop you as you are ruining their sponsor ads its changed for the worse in that regard,
whacked on weed
here's a good little story on the late john lennon.it was apparently with much reliel that the f.b.i had a sudden revelation about former beatle john lennon back in 72.For months, paraniod FBI agents had been fretting that the singer turned activest was preparing to disrupt the sacred republican national convention. then some genius said it: lennon was to stoned to pose a real threat. The moment when the FBI concluded that pot had got the better of the late rock star. the file was released this week as a myraid of files of deceased stars. make you wonder.

Afghanistan
ive been following a story this week.it was a request from their president hamid karzai he asked tha u.s used less airpower and asked before they kicked down doors and searched houses.and less military action.u.s assisant defence secetary peter rodman told a congressional hearing that he did not fully understand karzai's remark and the need for foreign military action had decreased after parliamentry elections."we see the fight is still on and he knows that" said rodmam.he touted close operational co operation between u.s and afghan forces and said washington consulted with kabul on military matters."maybe he was speaking to his people, who would like to see the violence subside,"rodmen told the house committee on international matters. at a news conferance on tuesday ,karzai said"i dont think there is a big need for military acttivity in afghanistan anymore." "When there's a need for it we'llconduct it,"he said. Karzai also said that airpower was no longer very effective, and rodman told the committee that "on airstrikes we agree with him. he also predicted that u.s troops would be needed for another few years. So i read it you can say what you want as you are president but you dont have a say on matters that involve u.s policys .

brad Pitt and angelie jolie in town
they where at the mall yesterday , brads in town for his new movie the assienation of Jesse james.its funny when I was in aus I saw a story about angelie's new baby .It said that the grandmother only gave up the baby cause she could nt afford to feed it and it would have been better if angelie had donated money so the baby could stay with its family, That brings up a interesting topic is it right for people to go to foreing lands to adopt? That's a hard one is it cause they want a very young one, if not then are nt there many children that need adopting in the states and every other country many aussies do the same cause the waiting list is to long and they cant wait or are they doing it cause they think the child will have a better life away from poverty and squalor ? IM not casting judgment IM just curios about the issue any imput
what a responabilty child rearing is.
the day started off well did nt do to much as the other kids would be home at 12 p.m. Half day thursday in catholic schools .I was playing with saoirse with a ball then i let her play by herself she wandered into the kitchen i was in lounge room just catching some t.v i went in and she was dipping her ball in the mop bucket and drinking the water she had only done it once when i got there but i did nt know what to do so i rang my sister in scotland she was nt home.I thought she would be alright then the mind started what if you know how it goes always think the worse so i tried one of emma's friends not home .I rang posion control and explained they said she would be ok the worse would have been her being sick as the stuff in the water was diluted phew kids eh.I tell you they know how to get you worried but its still the greatest job i have ever had just have to make the house child proof.

Well it is good to see that the police will act quickly in loughveiw whitecity to the locals, as I said before I grew up there and I loved the experience it was a mixed community, we had ira men and uda uvf men.everyone knew who they where we went to lots funerals catholic and protestant who both where victims of the troubles i rem one in particular jimmy mc cartney he was tortured and killed the whole estate turned up for it, it was a closed casket as cigarettes where put out on his face.i also rem news stories of tar and feathering and people jumping out of highrise flats to escape torture so for me it was a funny childhood we played regardless while looking at these events like la mon there was someone from the estate there that day . Would I have joined a paramilitary group I hope I would nt(i probely would have been capped as i robbed the home of a uda member that's another story)but going to aus changed my views a lot I saw what these men where really like smashing a door and killing a innocent catholic does nt take courage pushing a button and blowing up unexpecting soldiers is nt a hero.would I join a army no I would nt want to cause suffering to another or his or her family.lifes is to valuable to me .Mine id give up to save a innocent anytime. God gave us love and what do we do turn it to hate in his name is that what he wanted from us.i say he wanted us to understand his greatest gift love for each other look after your brother and sister your neighbor. Embrace your emeny he may embrace you back. Listen to your heart does it tell you to hate.
Well its been a day of arguring about the war on Iraq well these are my views, Saddam should have been removed for his crimes but still the us was wrong in invading, he should have been removed in 92 and I think George bush sn relished this so his son wanted to finish the job. The santions who ever where to blame was a SHAMBLES AS WAS FOOD FOR OIL. If the us government was serious about human rights , why not sign the kyoto ,why not sign to ban land mines, if genocide was the reason why not go to Rwanda ,if oil is nt the reason why protect it so much, if the company's are helping the Iraqi people why not hire them I don't know all the answers or claim to I just know right and wrong and not
heres part of something im reading and does nt it make sense
`In Germany, first they came for the communists and I did not speak out because I was not a communist.
Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics and I did not speak out because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.'
--- Pastor Martin Niemoller (1892-1984) --- it says it all if we dont speak out for others who will speak out for us when the time comes
Commander Vows To 'Take On' Loyalist Paramilitaries
By Simon Hunter
Tuesday 20th September 2005The PSNI District Commander for north Down has promised to "take on" loyalist paramilitaries operating in Holywood.
Supt Graham Shields yesterday vowed that, with the help of people in the town, he would remove the control that loyalists have on certain areas of Holywood.
He was referring to the trouble in the Loughview estate in July, when a spillover of the loyalist feud led to thugs lining the street watching families forced to leave the area.
When a member of the audience asked Mr Shields about how he would help the people living in fear in the Loughview estate, the District Commander said: "It's very difficult for us to deal with it without the support of the public. I understand where you're coming from, but we have to stand up to these people.
"If any information has been given to police, we have acted on it. We have been prepared to deal with these people and to take them on."
In response to a tabled question at the North Down District Policing Partnership meeting in Holywood, Mr Shields confirmed as much as possible was being done to break the loyalist stranglehold on the community.
"We are determined to address criminal activity regardless of what type," said Mr Shields. To do this, we need the support of the community and we need information and evidence from the community. I will continue to make resources available for policing in Holywood."
While he would not confirm the number of people believed to be affiliated with loyalist organisations in Holywood, Mr Shields did point out some of the recent successes against their criminal operations.
"We have made significant drug seizures and related arrests in the Loughview estate.
"The total estimated value of the drugs recovered amounts to £450,000," he said. "We have also continued in our strategy in relation to flags, particularly in Holywood with LVF flags. Two years ago, we were the first to bring people to court on the matter. There are five people pending prosecution for the same type of offence."
A number of firearms and ammunition have also been recovered in the Loughview estate in recent months. its good to see that the police are trying to clean up my old estate my sister lives there as i have said before it like all over the province there is intimidation going on a mother whose son was killed by uvf is being harrassed by uvf . these men are cowards who pray on the weak
Just returned from downtown what a waste that was except. When I got to the bus stop I was nt sure which bus to take? There was a young man probely about 23 or something he had headphones on, I asked him what bus to take he took his headphones of and told me. I saw him hesitate to put them on so I started talking to him he has only been here 2 months he moved from new Brunswick before that he was from Newfoundland, and he moved here for work. It's amazing how people actually will talk if you try most people are friendly . IM the annoying you meet at bus stops and the like who will say hello I also went to London drugs and a nestle man was stocking his brand of choc I was debating which one to get when he said"can I help you with anything these ones are on sale." to which I replied" I suppose your a nestle rep " we the talked for about 5 mins on how come English choc is better than north American especially herseys and Australian even though most is the same brands I reason its cause the cows have greener grass for eating so produce better milk .If IM wrong you can let me know why it is . But I also asked him to see if they can make milky bars UK people know what I mean its great for kids .But my point is, it make s the day better when you acknowage others and it makes them feel good to I bet .
so heres the p.r going into overdrive? iraqi probe into soldier incident
Soldiers were forced to flee after their vehicles caught fire
The Iraqi government has launched an investigation into the events that led the British Army to storm a police station in search of two UK soldiers.
Both men were members of the SAS elite special forces, sources told the BBC's Richard Galpin in Baghdad.
The soldiers were arrested by police and then handed over to a militia group, the British Army says.
Iraq's interior ministry ordered the police force in Basra to release the soldiers but that order was ignored.
Instead they ended up in the hands of Shia militia, prompting the flattening of a wall at the police station and the later dramatic rescue, the Ministry of Defence said.
Basra governor Mohammed al-Waili said the men - possibly working undercover - were arrested for allegedly shooting dead a policeman and wounding another.

Richard Galpin said al-Jazeera news channel footage, purportedly of the equipment carried in the men's car, showed assault rifles, a light machine gun, an anti-tank weapon, radio gear and medical kit.
This is thought to be standard kit for the SAS operating in such a theatre of operations, he said.
The arrests sparked angry protests from locals in which British vehicles were attacked and set on fire.
Haydar al-Abadi, a spokesman for Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, said the British rescue had been "a very unfortunate development".
"My understanding is that, first, it happened very quickly. Second, there is lack of discipline in the whole area regarding this matter...
"It is a very unfortunate development that the British forces should try to release their soldiers the way it happened, it's very unfortunate."
We remain committed to helping the Iraqi government for as long as they judge that a coalition presence is necessary
Defence Secretary John Reid
Timeline: UK troops in Iraq
How events unfolded
Soon afterwards, the Iraqi prime minister's office released a statement insisting there was no crisis in relations with the British.
"In response to recent events in Basra, the Iraqi government wants to clarify that there is no 'crisis' - as some media have claimed - between it and the British government.
"Both governments are in close contact, and an inquiry will be conducted by the Iraqi Ministry of the Interior into the incident.
"We will await the outcome of that inquiry. In the meantime we urge all sides to remain calm."
Brigadier John Lorimer said it was of "deep concern" the men detained by police ended up held by Shia militia, something that put their lives in danger.
In a statement, Brig Lorimer said that under Iraqi law the soldiers should have been handed over to coalition authorities, but this failed to happen despite repeated requests.
HAVE YOUR SAY
Pulling out at this stage would be irresponsible
Richard, London, UK British vehicles attacked outside the police station had been attempting to maintain a cordon because it was obvious from a very early stage that the two British captives were in danger. Three British soldiers were injured in the melee, with a number of Iraqi casualties.
After troops broke into the police station to confirm the men were not there, they staged a rescue from a house in Basra, said the commanding officer of 12 Mechanised Brigade in Basra.
BBC Defence Correspondent Paul Wood said local police revealed the whereabouts of the two men after the station was stormed.
In a statement, Defence Secretary John Reid said the soldiers were being treated for minor injuries.
Mr Reid said: "We remain committed to helping the Iraqi government for as long as they judge that a coalition presence is necessary to provide security."
The Conservatives' defence spokesman Michael Ancram has accused the government of "uncertainty" over its strategy in Iraq, while the Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy said Iraq was drifting towards civil war.
The BBC's Paul Wood said none of Basra's 20,000 police officers had helped the UK troops "partly because of reticence by their commanders, partly because, I am afraid, they have been infiltrated by these militants".

Well this is the week I turn 40 on fri ,its funny IM actually worried a little as when I was in my twenties I used to curse god and say I hate life I want to be dead by 40.yet my last couple years ive actually come to terms with my self and relished IM me.i always had the impression I was nt good enough by society's standards and truthfully IM not neither would I want to be cause a lot of people in today's world are materialistic self centered .now tell me art why do people look at crap like dead cows and say the artist is a genius hes not just people follow like sheep so if someone who is supposed to be a art expert says its great the rest followin case someone says they know nothing, is being accepted so importantly think not get a child to see it and they will say the truth same as fashion pink is the new black go figure pink is for girls I know its the new man thing to be brave and wear pink but come on pink it looks so weird on men gay men excluded and that s not a homophobia statement but they wear it well a macho man in pink just look out of place like the feel uncomforted in it.i say wear what ever you want if its pink then enjoy but for me its normal to wear jeans and jumpers
so this is how they give freedom to the iraqi's , soldiers 'storm' Basra prison

Some soldiers were forced to flee after their tanks caught fire
British forces have rescued two UK servicemen who were arrested by Iraqi police in the southern city of Basra.
Official Iraqi sources say British tanks stormed the city's jail, but the Ministry of Defence says the men's release was negotiated.
Basra governor Mohammed al-Waili said it was a "barbaric act of aggression".
The arrests sparked clashes in which UK tanks came under attack. Two civilians were reportedly killed and three UK soldiers were injured.
MoD officials insist they have been talking to the Iraqi authorities to secure the release of the men - who were reported to be working undercover.
British servicemen who were seen being injured in the graphic photographs are being treated for minor injuries only
Defence SecretaryJohn Reid
What effect will unrest have?
But they do acknowledge a wall was demolished as UK forces tried to "collect" the men Iraqi police accused of firing on them.
However, sources in the Iraqi Interior Ministry say six tanks were used to smash down the wall in a daring rescue operation.
Witnesses told the Associated Press around 150 prisoners escaped during the operation but Iraqi officials later denied any prisoners had escaped.
Earlier, two British tanks, sent to the police station where the soldiers were being held, were set alight in clashes.

British officials would not say if the two men were working undercover
Crowds of angry protesters hurled petrol bombs and stones injuring three servicemen and several civilians.
TV pictures showed soldiers in combat gear, clambering from one of the flaming tanks and making their escape.
In a statement, Defence Secretary John Reid said the soldiers who fled from the tanks were being treated for minor injuries.
Mr Reid added that he was not certain what had caused the disturbances.
"We remain committed to helping the Iraqi government for as long as they judge that a coalition presence is necessary to provide security," the statement said.
Law and order
Tensions have been running high in the city since the arrest of a senior figure in the Shia Mehdi Army by UK troops.
But Colonel Tim Collins, the former commander of British troops in Iraq, described the Basra unrest as like a "busy night in Belfast".
Col Collins said it did not represent a breakdown of law and order in Basra, which was still a safer city than Baghdad. well that whats come out so far no matter what tanks should nt have been used its a bit like you can have freedom but we can still do as we please and if you dont like it we shall take your demoracy away?
ive just been having well trying to have a debate with ui and another blogger. They are going on about the war in Iraq how its for freedom but if you question it your a Moron or pansy or p.c so what they are saying in other words is that we belive in freedom for everyone who has our viewpoint did nt the communists have the same doctrine. Makes you wonder I ve nothing against it if it was just but we all know its not but you get people who shout you down if you say that and makes others afraid to say something , so what do we do sit back and let them tell us what our views should be? I say hell no .
There was more rioting over the weekend in northern Ireland. But it does nt make the headlines or some bloggers pages as it did involve the loyalists,it was the nationalists turn but there was no reason for these riots. I know there is never a reason for a riot but the loyalists are getting frustrated, and the uvf/uda see this and exploit it and gain futher control over the housing estates.what is needed as I have stated before is for someone to stand up and take the lead not for loyalists but for the decent people protestants and Catholics and say we have endured 30 plus years now its our turn to live.not having to worry about walking into wrong neighborhood and saying wrong thing and end up getting a beating.and is religion really to blame for northern Ireland troubles no its about nationalism most who want it are catholic and some protestants, and those who don't are protestants and some Catholics. They reason I was against it when I was younger was because the free state(rep of Ireland )was to connected to the roman catholic church no divorce or abortion well you can get divorced there now so that one my reasons gone and IM sure abortion s not so bad that the Dutch ship still come s . I think it all changed when the 13 year old girl was raped and the goverment of the day refused her a abortion or even the right to go to england.could I enjoy a united Ireland I cant tell you because if they respect my heritage IM all for it but many want to destroy it like stopping the marchs,we have embraced St paddies day up north when I was younger it was just a catholic holiday but now IM told we all get it. They have been celebrating the Easter uprising for many years.
every war seems to be about religion and everyone claims gods on there side .

My one and only football game(soccer) I was in northern Ireland and must have been about 9 or 10 my dad told me that he was taking me to see the glens play against Bangor I rem being excited more for going with my dad. We walked into Holywood he called into the railway pub. Came out and got the train to Bangor cant rem if we talked but there was lots of glens supporters there.we got off at Bangor he said IM just going in here for a min, as I was standing there for about 15 mins a cop asked me what I was doing and I said waiting for my dad. I think he went and checked as dad came out about a min later but I was happy we were on our way to bangors ground clandeboye we joined the queue got in the ground and dad said wait here ill be back in a sec .He turned up at halftime with something for me to eat and told me to stay in the same spot near the corner post. I heard my name called after he left it was a couple people from whitecity holywood and they asked if I wanted to stand with them I said yes as they where with all the glens supporters in the stand I enjoyed the second half singing and for the record the glens won. Dad came at the end I saw him looking for me and said hurry we got a lift home as we drove home I think he asked if I enjoyed the game and not to say he was in the bar .He went out drinking that night. Wonder why I never went to another game but I still love the glens.
we are sharks and dolphins:as I say in my travels ive meet many people some are sharks(trying to take from you) some are dolphins(those who give) it was my second trip to western Australia, I was supposed to get married but the girl well lets say there where circumstances, id walked out of my job we got a new boss he was English and he hated me ,maybe it was cause I was northern Irish who knows but one day he got up my nose so I walked out he got in my way and instead of punching him I hit the door . I walked and got bus home when I got home she was there I did care a lot for her but as I said circumstances talked and I told her I had to get away she asked if I would be back I said I don't know I packed my bag and went to nepean highway and headed west ,a couple days later I rang home and was told she wanted me to come back I felt bad and said ok. I was on the boarder of s.a and w.a I went out and put my finger out(we used finger over in oz) and was standing east trying to get a lift then I thought why so I crossed the road and did the same thing heading west again. I spent a couple hours doing that and thought which ever way I get a lift that's the way IM going. I got a lift west he dropped me off at a intersection he was heading towards esperance I think? I was standing on a corner and this truck stopped he asked where I was going I told him Perth. We talked and it made time go quick we got into Perth about 4 in the afternoon he asked if I wanted to help him unload just take tarps off and help him fold it I thought it was the least I could do, after that he asked if I wanted to go for a cruise around Perth city centre I said yes he unhitched the trailer at yard as they where going to load it and he would pick the trailer up tomorrow and head back to melb.we drove around perving (looking) at the Perth women. He asked if I wanted to go to a pub I said I had no money he said his shout so I said no worries even though I felt guilty but I think he enjoyed the company(plus me being so young he was looking after me) we went to a pub I cant remember the name we had a shower separate of course LOL, I was finished first and was looking at a signed picture of Dennis Lillie a famous bowler from w.a after that we got in the truck and he took me to a strip club really enjoyed it being that age. He told me about the tricks they do he said don't look them in the eye or they sit down and ask to buy them a drink which is charged double.but there where pretty girls there and one was flirting don't know if it was cause I was nt the usual costumer I rem walking out and she was still staring so I smiled and she smiled back probably the drink. We went to the truck I slept on the seat he went to the bunk . He had told me he would drop me off next morning and he took me right to the door and did nt go till I was sure it was right place I thanked him and have never forgotten his kindness and have lived by that way . Wish I could remember his name but lots happened in between and ill tell you them one day.your maybe wondering about the girl she went back to her old fiance and got married she was actually 4 years older than me . I saw her about 6 months later she was about 7 months pregnant I never found out if it was his or mine a friend of ours said it was mine.but ill never know either will the child probably.
Well I, ve put the wood away , I was helping the co op with building fences. Co op now that's a funny way to describe it only a handful of people helped but they where the one's who put the co in it . Mores the pity its a great concept you get house pay rent and to keep charges down you pitch in , but in today's society it's a hard concept to keep going take today .There was wood that has been ordered to build fences cause people wanted there fence done but no one wanted to build it IM willing to give a hand anytime but no one wanted to get started to busy enjoying days off . I know easy for me as IM not working but IM still a visitor, so I put the wood away as winners approaching and don't want it to rot I thought someone might come and give me a hand did they did they heck , except one person she also was out painting yesterday as was I and after putting fence away we went and another two people came to help at park, it seems to always be the same people . But that's the society that we live in these days,it's what I call the me society what do I get out of it everyone chase's the never ending consumer ring the more you get the more you need honestly do you really need a TV in every room ipods mp3 players computers(well yes cause that's the only true free media these days)DVD's video recorders dishwashers its all buy and forget whats really happening to the world that we are being brainwashed you see images on television of dead do you feel bad for a sec but you think wow a dead body its like a car crash you drive by and have to look to see if there's blood, the Romans used the same tactics they had the coliseums they got people used to images of blood in the name of entertainment they they could kill citizens who opposed them and no one blinked a eye just like today's t.v. music is nt much better rock and roll was about rebellion and the 60's gave us protest songs that went to the 70's roll onto today we get pop music that is all the same . Raps all the same just some diff lyrics no only a few try and do something diff but it gets lost.people like Paris Hilton are idolised for being me people Martha steward gets rewarded for ripping shares off , it was nt like she needed it .plastic surgery is almost the norn why not grow old its fun are nt you supposed to stop worrying about how you look after your a teenager if no one like you for you then why do we change it them we should change and get someone who likes us for us.after all the only person who's opinion actually counts is our own we don't question anything any more when you go to work see if people discuss the same things as we did many years ago instead we say did you watch unless it involves us even then its usually half hearted and usually what the papers or t.v tell us hopefully one day soon we will wake up.

not a good result ,but at least we were nt beaten ,but you have to question the mangers decision not to play cisse up front with crouch after watching garcia play shite yet sinama pongelle played his heart out and was taken off .maybe if he was spanish,so next challange is chelsea twice once in premier leauge and once in europe . another point we have only scored 1 goal in the premiership not a good stat.

Then there s the other semi between west coast and Adelaide gone are the days when the Melbourne teams dominated
here is another side to the argument:on the 15th of August 1998 the Parades Commission allowed a parade by the Ancient Order of Hibernians which is a Catholic organisation to proceed through the prodominetly Protestant town of Kilkeel in Co Down.
The Orange Order had no objection to this parade taking place taking into account CIVIL AND RELIGIOUS LIBERTIES FOR ALL. WHAT THEY DID OBJECT TO WAS THAT THIS PARADE WAS PERMITTED TO PROCEED WHILE ORANGEMEN IN PORTADOWN WHERE NOT ALLOWED THE SAME BASIC RIGHTS. To this end the Orange Order did not engage in demonstrations against this traditional parade in Kilkeel.
It was however regretable that many of the bands on parade in Kilkeel broke conditions laid down by the Parades Commission and to date no action has been taken. The Orange Order would again voice its concerns that the unelected QUANGO Parades Commission is incapable of acting in an impartial manner and would seem to act in a positve manner with those who are still engaged in violence.

200 years Orange members of the local Scotch-Irish community in Portadown have taken part in a parade and religious service in the small church on Drumcree Hill. Since the era of Napoleon these parades have passed off peacefully, and community relations in the town remained amicable.
Five years ago all this changed. The IRA, a Libyan-backed terrorist group responsible for the deaths of over 2000 innocent people, together with its political allies in Sinn Fein embarked on a policy of segregationism aimed at creating Catholic ghetto areas from which the IRA could draw recruits. Eradicating outside influence on Catholic areas was of course a key element to this strategy, and with this in mind a host of so-called "residents groups" were "spontaneously" brought into being across Northern Ireland.
These groupings, generally fronted by dependable IRA men, campaigned for Orange religious parades to be banned from 'their' areas. This campaign is combined with the similar "Disband the RUC" campaign, aimed at crippling our police service and enabling IRA gunmen to impose 'peoples justice' on their communities.
On 5 July 1998, Portadown Orangemen were refused 'permission' to walk along the Garvaghy Road, the main arterial route to Portadown town centre from the annual church service at Drumcree Parish Church. This route has been in use since the first Orange service at Drumcree in the year 1807. This makes Drumcree the oldest Orange church service in the entire world. It is central to our sense of identity, our sense of belonging as a community, and was therefore seen by the IRA/SinnFein as an ideal target to attack.
The decision to ban the parade from the Garvaghy Road was taken by an unelected, unaccountable Government body called the "Parades Commission". Most people on this commission have no understanding of our culture and are desperate to make concessions to the IRA to stem the threat of more killings.
Our community has always viewed the law as the cornerstone of our democracy and our civilisation. But we cannot accept that an unelected commission should have the right to prevent us from upholding the faith and traditions of our forefathers. We had to take a stand for civil rights, and, supported by the majority of people here in Northern Ireland, we have done just that.
It is in this context that our struggle for civil rights and a de-segregated Northern Ireland should be viewed."
This campaign against peaceful, traditional and lawful Orange parades is organised by Sinn Fein/IRA and is part of an overall strategy waged by IRA terrorists against the peace-loving people of Northern Ireland. For thirty years, they have waged a terrorist war against the people of Northern Ireland, both Catholics and Protestant.
Thousands have been murdered and countless victims have been injured, paralysed, blinded and mutilated by IRA bullets and bombs. One particularly horrifying IRA tactic has been the use of nail-studded baseball bats to beat up their victims. These bats have inflicted horrific injuries - such beatings are particularly directed against members of the Catholic community who dare speak out against Sinn Fein.
Our cities and towns have been blown asunder time and time again by massive IRA car bombs. To date, in this 'peace process'; not one ounce of semtex or one bullet has been decommissioned by the terrorists.
The Orange Institution has been a particular focus for IRA agitation because it is the only organisation that unites all classes of Protestants, all Protestant religious denominations and all shades of Unionism under its all encompassing banner. Over the past few years there has been a deliberate campaign of agitation against law abiding Orangemen and their faith. Orange parades are a legitimate expression of religious and cultural identity held by the Protestant community of Northern Ireland, indeed Orange parades take place in every corner of the world from England to America and Ghana to Australia. They are not offensive, are not political and are not staged purely to annoy members of the Roman Catholic community, as some commentators would have people believe. Many in the Catholic community have written to Orangemen to express their support for the right of Orangemen to express their culture and heritage.
The Orangemen of Portadown are engaged in a campaign for 'Civil and Religious liberty' for all the citizens of Northern Ireland both Roman Catholic and Protestant. We are determined and resolute as we hold aloft the torch of freedom at Drumcree.
Twice this century we Britons have been forced to fight, against all odds, to defend our freedom. Just as we stood alongside America against the Nazi threat, so too we now stand determined and resolute as we hold aloft the torch of freedom at Drumcree.
Martin Luther King was once imprisoned for leading a civil rights parade against segregation in an area of the South where racist views predominated. He stood not for the rights of blacks, nor for the rights of whites, but for the civil liberties of all Americans, of every race, creed and colour.
Like Martin Luther King we have taken the stand we have on behalf of all the people of Northern Ireland, Protestant and Catholic, who have had enough of terrorist-enforced segregation, of being ordered around by sectarian IRA and UVF gunmen and bombers. We want to reach out beyond the sectarian divide, to break down the walls of segregation that cause so much misunderstanding and hatred.
Our Vision is for Peace. Our Plea is for Justice. Our Dream is for a Shared Northern Ireland in which Equality, and not Segregation, prevails.
We may not have the access to Irish-American money, we may not be able to finance the kind of polished propaganda campaigns that Sinn Fein and the IRA are expert at, but we know that Truth is on our side and that, eventually, we will see the pure light of Justice and Peace at the end of the tunnel.
Here we stand - We can do no other

There are approximately 900 houses along the disputed 600 metre stretch of the Garvaghy Road.
Only 66 houses face directly onto the Garvaghy and Drumcree Roads.
Less than 10 houses (less that 1%) have addresses actually on the Garvaghy Road.
75% of the houses are between 100 - 600 metres away from the Garvaghy Road.
It is impossible to see the Garvaghy Road from the vast majority of the houses along it.
It was statistics similar to these compiled in 1985 and 1986 that enabled the RUC to approve the Garvaghy Road as a main route to the Orange Hall in Portadown.

speaking of Ian.IAN Paisley said last night it was time for Tony Blair's Government to address unionist distrust of the peace process in the wake of recent violence and growing inequality.
The DUP leader condemned the disorder as inexcusable, but said it highlighted the huge task facing the Government, if it wants to win unionist and Protestant support.

he said: "The last few days have brought into sharp focus the disastrous road along which the signatories of the so-called Agreement have led our Province."
Unionists now felt like secondclass citizens, he said, adding: "The double laws, one favouring republicans and the other, heavyhanded on unionists, must cease. "The black spots of deliberate discrimination against employment of Protestants must be tackled, and the disgraceful practice of the Government allowing Protestant communities to be underprivileged must stop.
"An economic deal must be established to deliver equality."
He also said events had further highlighted the need to deal with terrorist violence from all quarters.
Mr Paisley's party colleague, East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell, said he fears the main threat to unionist communities now comes from their own people.
No longer do republicans represent the greatest danger to unionists, he said, it is now the loyalist paramilitaries operating on their doorstep.
Mr Gregory was speaking on BBC Radio Ulster's Talkback programme, and made clear that he felt times had changed in Northern Ireland. "Right now, the biggest
threat to the loyalist community is from the loyalist paramilitaries," he said.
"In the last 10 or 20 years the biggest threat has been the republicans."
Mr Campbell also called for an end to all violence and for sense to prevail in unionist communities.

this image will stop me from joining any lodges its me at my daughter baptisim at a catholic church,so i hope Ian does NT get to see it the pic
well it shows while everyone's distracted by the loyalist's life go on .
McCartney intimidation 'growing'

Mr Commander was attacked in the Short StrandRelatives of murdered man Robert McCartney say the IRA intimidation campaign against them is intensifying.
They said republicans were responsible for beating up a close friend of their murdered brother in Belfast on Monday.
About 150 people gathered outside his partner's house in east Belfast's Short Strand in support of the family.
They were also supporting their friend Jeff Commander. Sinn Fein denied republicans were responsible for attacking him and splitting his head.
His wife, Sinead, said: "They tried to murder him. They came like the Ku Klux Klan.
"They came through Clandeboye Drive when my husband and myself were walking through to go home and they attacked him.
"They tried to get him to the ground. He held onto the rails and I was with him.
"There was eight of them. One of them had a knife and if they had got him to the ground he would have come into me in a box."

Sinead Commander compared the attackers to the Ku Klux KlanRobert's sister Paula also said republicans were using the distraction of recent loyalist violence to step up their attempts to drive them out.
Mr McCartney, 33, was stabbed outside a Belfast pub in January.
His sister Paula McCartney said Jeff Commander was set upon by a group of men armed with iron bars and sewer rods.
"One of them had a knife. We firmly believe that only for the intervention of local people that knife would have been used and we would have a carbon copy of Robert's murder," she said.
'Needs to stop'
On Tuesday night, a crowd picketed the home where Robert McCartney's partner Bridgeen Hagans and her children live. The family are blaming republicans.
Sinn Fein called for an end to all intimidation of the family and the party insisted no members of the IRA were involved.

A vigil was held outside the house of Bridgeen Hagans
The party's Martin McGuinness said he would be shocked if IRA members were involved.
However, the McCartneys insisted there were republicans trying to drive members of the family out of the area - and they say it needed to be stopped.
Mr McCartney's sisters and partner have held a number of meetings with high profile politicians in their campaign for justice over the killing.
In March, they met US President George Bush at the White House in Washington.

well my second day as mister mum: and you can see how lunch went, well I can say its going great I love being home as IM not allowed to work being here on a visitor visa but hopefully soon ill be here for good the I can go to work other kids are at school so its pretty quite for now then the chaos starts.
but I would NT change a thing this is the best time I ve had in many years and cant understand why more parents want to work and make heaps off money ill take kids everytime. Kids came home and liam was his usually boisterous self but its great make saoirse laugh she loves her big bro. Taylor turned up happy no homework and she takes saoirse and plays with her sisters eh wait till she s older .

There once was a baby dragon who was orphaned and a farmer took him in, he grew up with all the sheep cows and other farm animals passed and he was grazing in the field one day when he saw something fly overhead all the other animals ran and hid but he was curious? Flying overhead was another dragon who spotted him and swooped down . The older dragon said to him" why are you on the ground and grazing with animals you should be eating." the younger dragon replied "it's what I have always done and I cant fly." with that the older dragon picked the younger dragon up in his mouth and started flying up everything on the ground got smaller and smaller as they got higher and higher then he let go of the young dragon, who started falling to earth just before he hit the ground the older dragon swooped down and grabbed him in his mouth he then flew straight up and did the same thing over and over till one time the younger dragon opened his wings and flew himself. That's an old Chinese story its moral mean that you can fall many times till you find your true self.

focus on the story, not looks: charlize theron is getting annoyed at suggestions that she is subverting her natural beauty by taking roles which call for a non glamorous look. She was talking about her next role as a factory worker and she said in response to people saying she's doing another ugly movie "I don't know, I'm not an American,I grew up in this small town in south Africa." In America she explained,"there is so much emphasis put on the physical aspect of the character and also I think on actors just as individuals. It's just so outrageous."she also went on to say "people should pay attention to the meaning of the stories in her movies not her physical attributes." now if only more women in the media would stand up and be counted .Instead of us having to see pictures of pencil thin women who look ugly and I think they do it makes me sick looking at them and thinking young women will try and copy the look if there is NT enough pressures on the young to succeed these days.
Just been talking to my sister in Scotland she said my other sister in Hollywood is worried the uvf came into the estate last night and wrecked all the lvf slogans, then just left she' s had a mattress under her window since this started as she got 2 death threats alough she was assured by members of both uvf and uda they did nt come from them as she is well liked and respected in white city, but still it would be on the back of her mind being the mother of 5 children youngest 10 what happened to northern Ireland we where almost free off all this when I was there in the 90 s I noticed that there was changes some good some bad like drugs they have taken over most areas. I know most nationalists namely Gerry Adams will be smiling .It makes me wonder if we will have a say in a united Ireland as we are destroying our own communities as I have said time for a strong leader to stand up for the many protestants who are nt involved in violence

oh my god you think they had been crowned champions of the world fair due the one a cricket series but a parade now are the English so desperate for hero's. I also see there coach finally got citizenship after being turned down a couple times before now that's a reward .Still I cant complain northern Ireland beat them in football . I suppose we cant have everything we want in life

Real Betis 1-2 Liverpool ,well we did it good start , mind you we shut down in second half don't know if Gerard was injured or just out of flavour at the moment florent sinama pongolle scored first goal , he s a strange one seems to have been around awhile but never makes a regular appearance but he seems to have heart which used to make Liverpool great that's what they played for club first themselves second but money changed that .Hopefully we can get that spirit back at Liverpool but great job lads.
the mural on left says oo refused to walk while ira can and was defaced .

here s something from bbc to show what it's all about Northern Ireland? Why are these events steeped in history so disputed?
What are the Orange marches?
Northern Ireland's marching season is one of the fixed elements of Northern Ireland life - and in recent years it has become one of the most disputed.
In short, the marching season sees members of "loyal orders" - predominantly the Orange Order - parade in ceremonial garb to celebrate the Protestant culture and communities of Northern Ireland.
It is steeped in ritual and history - and in any other part of the world it might just pass off as a pseudo-religious festival enjoyed by all. But thanks to the divisions in Northern Ireland many regard the Orange marches as a sign of sectarianism.
Is it just loyalist organisations who march?
About 5% of parades are nationalist, a number of them associated with republicanism, such as commemoration events in areas with historically high support for the IRA. But generally speaking about three quarters of Northern Ireland's parades, including civic events and so on, are loyalist marches.
Why is that?
We have to start with the history. In 1690, Protestant William of Orange (hence the name) defeated Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne.
A hundred years later some Catholics tried to challenge that supremacy. The Orange Order was founded in response by men who saw themselves in the vanguard of defending the Protestant faith. This concept of defending the community's identity is at the heart of the Orange marches. Today, the height of the annual marching season comes on 12 July, the date of William's victory.
Have they always been so controversial?
Many Orangemen argue that for years their Catholic neighbours had no objection to the annual parading.
But many nationalists say this is not so - and that it's only recently that they have had the power to challenge marching regarded as offensive.
Many members of the loyal orders in turn believe that the opposition has largely been organised or whipped up by republicans leaders.
Are the parades offensive?
The symbols of the marches, such as effigies of William or James, depict historic events - whether or not you are offended by this comes down to what you believe those symbols to portray. Some Catholics say the marches and these symbols were used for years as a means to publicly "keep down" their community as second-class citizens.
But many Protestants, whether or not they support the Orange Order, regard the marches as a part of Northern Ireland culture.
For instance, many local Orange lodges commemorate the loss of thousands of Northern Ireland men at the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Those deaths have an important place in Protestant Northern Ireland culture.
Is the marching season always a source of dispute?
No. Many, many marches go ahead without any objection. It's only in a few areas where there is a lot of tension between the two traditions that marches become problematic.
The biggest dispute has been over the annual Drumcree march at Portadown. For years it passed through open countryside to a small church. In the 1960s, a new estate, predominantly housing local Catholic people, was built on the march's return route. That march became one of the flashpoints of the last decade as the nationalist community came to oppose the route. The confrontations over this march put parades at the centre of the political agenda because they were a symbol of the tensions between the two communities.
How have these disputes been solved?
The last Orange parade to go down the disputed route was in 1997. Arguments over the political handling of the Drumcree - and the widespread violence that came with it - led the government to establish an independent Parades Commission to adjudicate routes.
Up to the end of 2003, about 6% of parades were deemed contentious and many disputes resulted in an agreed re-routing or other measures which the Parades Commission regarded as necessary to prevent tension.
In reality, there has been enormous opposition to the Commission within the Orange Order and its political supporters, many of whom regard the body as failing to recognise the rights of Protestant people.
What impact does this have on the peace process?
One of the real fears is that Protestant communities are increasingly angry over what they regard as concessions to the nationalist communities, while believing their own identity and culture is being eroded.
They also feel that the way the Parades Commission works means that where nationalist communities threaten large scale disruption, the commission has little choice but to impose restrictions on Orange marches.
In turn, this seems to play a part in wider frustration on the streets. The events surrounding the Whiterock Parade dispute showed that loyalist paramilitaries were willing to organise people to come onto the streets in a violent show of force.
At the same time, the claim that a culture is being eroded is hardly new - it was indeed the fear behind the founding of the Orange Order in the first place.
But certainly there is a sense among much of the Unionist community as a whole - and Orangemen in particular - that the peace process has demanded huge sacrifices by them, for little return.

ok well here's a fact everyone knew but it took gov longer to relise.
Hain 'to denounce' UVF ceasefire

The UVF has been linked to four murders in recent monthsThe government is expected to announce that it no longer legally recognises the Ulster Volunteer Force's ceasefire.
It is expected to announce its decision to "specify" the loyalist organisation on Wednesday.
The government has been considering a report from the Independent Monitoring Commission on the UVF's feud with the Loyalist Volunteer Force.
Progressive Unionist Party leader David Ervine said the move by the government was "hardly unexpected".
He described it as "tragic" and said it would mean there would be more ground to cover once the UVF was restored to the political process.
The four-strong commission forwarded its report on the loyalist feud to Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Hain and the Irish government last week.
The UVF has been linked to four recent murders and has also been blamed for orchestrating violence across Northern Ireland following the Orange Order's Whiterock parade in north Belfast on Saturday.
The PUP is linked to the UVF and Red Hand Commando.
In July, Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Hain said he intended to withhold the PUP's assembly allowances for another year.
The decision followed the latest report from the Independent Monitoring Commission, which said the UVF and Red Hand Commando remained active, violent and involved in organised crime.
The Independent Monitoring Commission was set up by the British and Irish governments in January 2004.
It is a crucial element in the two governments' plans for restoring devolution, which was suspended in October 2002 amid allegations of IRA intelligence gathering at the Northern Ireland Office. so i wonder what gave it away ?
