its a pity that instead of embracing there irishness some in the protestant community hold on to a belive that the union is best yet the union does nt want themThe Protestants are British and have absolutely no right to live in Ireland. in the 70 s and 80 s many things changed in the nationalist community they get equal housing and education and so on .the only thing they did nt get was a united ireland so that was the only reason the bombed and killed the protestants and the catholics and even english children .so in all logic that was nt a reason to kill it was a excuse and after 9/11 they knew that they could not go on as the world would be against them.so they did the right thing .I know they had had a ceasefire since 94 but they were taking time with decommissing and 9/11 showed them they could nt expect support from there americian friend .they have everything they want except a united ireland and that will come. There is no reason for bitterness like that displayed by diarmid and thankfully he is a minority these days
