A UNIONIST MEP HAS CALLED FOR INQUIRY INTO COLLUSION
jim nicholson a ulster unionist has called on the republic goverment for an inquiry between members of its police force and the ira.
MR Nicholson said "its only right and proper that the irish goverment conducts a public inquiry into allegations of suspected collusion between members of the garda siochana and the irish republician army in the planning and excution of terrorism ."
the irish goverment has commited itself to an inquiry into the double killing of ruc officers cheif superintendent harry breen and superintendent bob buchanan in 1989 after the returned north of the border from a metting with the gardai.
the inquiry was recommended by retired canadian judge peter corey ,who also secured seperate inquiries in northern ireland into the murders of solictors pat finucane and rosemary nelson,catholic father of two robert hamill and loyalist prisioner billy wright.
Mr nicholson however pressed for a wider inquiry saying over the years there has been several serious allegations about collusion between the ira and and members of the garda
i have heard stories myself and thought that they were rumours but the stories i heard were when i was younger like the garda letting the ira pratice and train without question these charges are more serious and a full inquiry should be started now.
