ANOTHER story from northern ireland
the special branch of the ruc allowed members of mount vernon licence to kill and kill a ex ruc detective johnston brown who has wrote a book made revelations. the det was the man who put mad dog johny adair behind bars said
Johnston Brown, the cop who famously put Johnny Adair behind bars, claims:
• Special Branch "mollycoddled" serial killers
• One Branch agent in particular became a "walking nightmare",
• A serial killer who became a "protected species".
• An ex-IRA man joined Mount Vernon UVF.
• The Catholic UVF man was betrayed by a Special Branch man after giving police information that stopped a sectarian murder.
• Special Branch vetoed raids on Mount Vernon UVF arms dumps and scuppered one massive search by tipping off their informers.
• Mount Vernon UVF was riddled with informers, and one in five of all UVF men are security force agents.
The Mount Vernon UVF unit was behind a series of vicious murders in the 1990s, including the deaths of Catholic builders Gary Convie and Eamon Fox in 1994; alleged informer Thomas Sheppard in 1996; Rev David Templeton in 1997; ex-RAF airman Raymond McCord in 1997; Billy Harbison in 1997; UDA man Tommy English in 2000 and loyalist David Greer in 2000.
Mr Brown says CID detectives were fighting the unit with "our hands tied behind our back" because of Special Branch obstruction.
now no wonder catholics were suspicous of the ruc
